In August 2023, I founded Crown HouZe Events Co LLC in Dubai, following a distinguished 23-year career with the UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT), during which I spent the last 15 years based at the British Embassy in Dubai.
Throughout my extensive tenure in the GCC, I have acquired a profound understanding of the region’s key business drivers. Consequently, I have cultivated an extensive network of high-ranking local Emirati figures, senior government officials, and influential decision-makers within the UAE.
In my role as the commercial officer responsible for driving the growth of British food & drink and retail sector products at the British Embassy in Dubai, I played a pivotal role in directly supporting over 500 UK companies in the UAE, resulting in Export wins by British suppliers exceeding £100 million. Additionally, I successfully organised and executed a series of impactful events to promote British food & drink and retail products within the UAE. Notably, these initiatives encompassed the promotion of British food & drink products in well-established retail establishments across the UAE, as well as orchestrating matchmaking events at the last five Gulfood gatherings, culminating in more than 1,800 meetings between local and regional food & drink buyers and UK suppliers.
These engagements substantially contributed to the aforementioned £100 million in business wins.My tenure also involved effective advocacy efforts to surmount market access challenges and trade barriers obstructing UK exports to the UAE. Some of these endeavors were of significant prominence, including the successful temporary suspension of Arabic labeling requirements for UK exports during the pandemic and the resolution of the Epizootic Ulcerative Syndrome (EUS) issue, which had been impeding exports of Scottish Salmon to the UAE.
Leveraging my extensive network within the local food & drink and retail sectors, my deep-seated understanding of the regional business landscape, a comprehensive grasp of the commercial requisites of the local business community, and the trust I have fostered with local stakeholders, Crown HouZe, is uniquely positioned to assist brands in achieving their objectives in the UAE/GCC and India.
